Pulled Elbow- This 3 years old child from Sector 74 Noida,came crying with pain and unable to move left arm for 1 day following minor jerk at home,intially went to Orthopaedic doctor in Meerut,xray was done,but problem not settled.On clinical exam,i diagnosed it Pulled elbow,reduced it and child stopped crying and started lifting left hand.
Pulled elbow(Nursemaid elbow) is very common in kids,usually takes place with pulling hand from wrist(while doing massage,exercises),no x-ray is needed,child keeps arm extended and does not move.Once it get reduced, pain settles and movement starts.
I always counsel parents to avoid pulling or lifting kids from wrist.
